Extremely rare, perhaps the third known example
Lot 287
LAKONIA. Lakedaimon (Sparta). Mid 1st century BC. Trichalkon (Bronze, 19 mm, 4.60 g, 12 h). Jugate busts of the Dioskouroi to right, wearing laureate pilei. Rev. Λ-A Two snake entwined amphorae. BCD Peloponnesos -. CNG E-Auction 396 (2017), 180. Grunauer -. Extremely rare, perhaps the third known example. Somewhat smoothed, otherwise, very fine.

From an Australian collection, formed before 2005.

This issue is similar to Grunauer XV, but it lacks the wreath on the reverse and a magistrate name. It may predate Group XV somewhat, which would place it to mid 1st century BC.
